Knowing When It’s Time for Assistance – Episode 1

Nov 22, 2021 | When Is the Right Time For Assistance Info Series

November 22, 2021

Transcript:

We all want our independence, but as we age, that independence may become increasingly difficult to maintain.

When that time comes, how can you be certain of the level of care that’s needed?

Activities of Daily Living, or “ADL”, are a series of basic activities that determine a person’s ability to live independently.

As we age, one or more of these activities may become difficult and require assistance.

Providing that assistance can help that person achieve a better quality of life.

What are the self-care activities used in the ADL evaluation?  There are six categories including:

•    Bathing

•    Dressing

•    Using the bathroom independently

•    Getting in and out of bed

•    Continence (control of bowels and bladder)

•    Feeding

Each category is scored by a “1” (capable) or”0”, (not capable).

The higher the score, the more independent the person.

If you are experiencing problems with any of these activities, you may need additional assistance.

Tore’s Home (facilities) and Tore’s Home Services (home care) can help by providing most care levels needed.

Tore’s Home Services (home care) includes:

Two major components:

  1. Traditional: This program is designed for clients who have some support by a family member living close to the person needing assistance.
  2. Comprehensive:  This program is designed for people who do not have strong support locally and who wants Tore’s Home Services to become their “family.”

Tore’s Home Services strongly believes, and has experienced, that receiving assistance with ADL’s early, before the situation becomes urgent …

can postpone the need for facility care and therefore, allow people to stay longer in their own home.

Tore’s Home (facilities) includes the following care levels:

Assisted Living

Memory Care

Extended Care

End-of-Life Care

But that’s only the beginning of what makes Tore’s Home different from other elder care facilities.

Unlike nursing homes and large impersonal facilities, Tore’s Home offers a distinct, family-like atmosphere.

Our homes are small, intimate, and secure.  Located in quiet, residential neighborhoods, each home has only 6 to 12 residents.

Keeping our homes small allows our caregivers to provide residents with a more personalized, and customized level of care.

A more loving, personal and customized care in a small, family-like atmosphere … that’s what makes Tore’s Home different.

If you or a loved one needs help completing daily routines and activities, call Tore’s Home for a FREE, no obligation consultation.
